Cousins, Bugs & lollipops make my girls happy

Best Saturday morning ever for Avery is waking up to her two cousins, Kelsey and Maddie. And Emma is following in her footsteps.

Attack of the mosquitos at Storyland

Emma modeling the skirt I made and blue hands

Did I mention that the rain is driving us nuts!!!!!!

Thursday I was determined to get the kids out of the house. We were stuck her most of the week due to the rain and the spray insulation guys working in the attic. So we jumped in the car and ran to city park. I had a feeling the mosquitoes would be bad at Storyland because they always are but they were really awful. I grabbed both girls and ran from the fire truck after being attacked. I sprayed us and all of our stuff with bug spray (California Kids brand smells great by the way and all natural). The girls still had fun but we all came home to showers due to the humidity, bugs and Emma tumbling in the dirt.

The was before Emma did a tumble set out of the pumpkin.

Get outta here rain!!!

Another rainy day with two very energetic girls. What to do, what to do? Make granola bars again with Avery, Emma got her first taste of play doh, read books and take bubble baths!

Avery and Emma tried to yell at the rain to make it go away but it didn't work. Avery gets very worried by the rain. Last week there was a ton of traffic leaving camp because of the rain so now Avery says in a sad voice, "daddy won't be home for a long long time because of all the rain traffic."

Reading books while watching the rain by the backdoor
She did get a new swim suit today at target (on clearance) so she had to wash it and put it on this afternoon. We have decided to just do what we need to do despite the rain. Avery and Emma played out side in the sprinkles and puddles with rain boots and swim suits and I even did my daily run in the rain which was actually very enjoyable. We ended our day with a bubble bath, Avery wore her swim suit and covered her sister with bubbles.

And I finished their skirts!

Rainy days, robots, date night & balloons

This rain is driving us insane! I want to "flwim" (swim) mommy! I know Avery but look at the rain clouds. This is every day. We brought the pool inside and filled it with the few balls we had.

Where did all the balls go? Daddy will love that i posted this picture. But I had to show everyone what a fun daddy my girls have. It's hard to see but the balls are stuffed in their shirts

We now do a daily check of all princess bags in the house to check for keys, cell phones, milk cups, etc....

At least Avery had camp last week to entertain her. They had a week of the future. They made robots and robot tshirts. She wore hers all day.

Avery & Chloe - Such sweet friends

Then Honey and Grandaddy came to save the day and of course Avery was in heaven. We put Emma to bed (although I think she wanted to hang out with her buddy Grandaddy) and left Avery to make cookies with her Honey.

Prom Picture 2011
Greg and I went to La Boca and had a much needed night to ourselves Of course the combination of food, wine and dessert forced us old folks to head home right after to go to bed. But we still had a great dinner together.
We finished off the weekend going to Jackson's first birthday party and Avery came home with a yellow balloon. I had to put it to bed when she went to sleep tonight. She had the balloon by her side most of the evening. We all know that Avery loves everything yellow.
Just a few days ago I was telling myself that i will blog at least once a week now. My girls are growing so fast and my memory is not enough to hold all the crazy things they do. So perfect timing for my dear friend Robin to start Project 52. I already have ideas so I can't wait to start blogging along with you guys. If you want to link up go to Robin's blog.

Painting

My girls love to paint. Avery started by painting only her hands and feet but Emma had other plans. Body painting is now a favorite in my household.

Just another Tuesday at the Masson's

Well the day started out pretty well. Greg went to the gym at 5 and I went run when he returned. I have been feeling fantastic by the way now that I am  running. This may sound silly to some people but I can honestly say for the first time in my life that I am just down right happy. Yes I have bad moments, yes I catch myself yelling at my kids (working on that) yes I still have to remind myself at times that they are kids and they don't care if I have to clean the kitchen and they shouldn't have to care. I guess I have been doing a lot of "soul searching" the last few months. I believe you get to a point in your life where things just finally make sense.  As people always say life is too short. It's so true. I want my kids to have fun and be curious and messy. Yes I let me kids paint inside and I let Emma walk around with a chocolate cupcake. Messes can be cleaned. So I have made a lot of "inner changes" and I plan to continue with that. I feel that I have become a much better parent and I feel good about how I am raising my girls. I believe I got off the subject......So Emma took a nap after school and Avery and I made up our own color project. Somehow the colored bath tablets entered my kitchen and we decided to play with colors.

We then made carob walnut granola bars (fantastic!!!)

I forgot to add their new obsession with destroying the princess tent.

Then things went a bit down hill but I think they were just tired. They do the opposite when they are tired, they run around like maniacs. They were both a bit difficult to put to bed but we survived. Three more days of camp for Avery. I think she is going to miss it which is crazy because I had to almost bribe her to go to her last school. I am so extremely happy that we switched and she is going to do so well here. I'm off to bed and ready to start another day fantastic day tomorrow.
